Like many other Texans, we at Bang Whitetail Ranch (BWR) follow a rich family history of hunters and sportsmen. Just as our parents shared with us their love of hunting and the Texas outdoors, we did the same with our own children, building a strong family foundation of knowledge and passion to ensure the highest-quality hunting experiences at Bang Whitetail Ranch.
Today, most of our work on the ranch is based on two very simple principles:
- Strictly managing the whitetail herd will yield incredible animals, and
- Hunting is an enjoyable experience, where everyone should be welcome.
These principles drive every decision we make at BWR, and year after year we are thrilled to share in the adventures and experiences of families and friends taking advantage of our record-setting herd and beautiful Hill Country Texas accommodations. Our mission is to present our guests with the most complete and fulfilling hunting experience possible, and we’re committed as a family and business to ensuring that mission is successful.
As an additional note, we have a four-hunter maximum to ensure we’re able to cater the Texas Hunting Trip to you and your guests and focus on making your visit memorable. We consider every buck harvested at BWR a trophy buck.
Herd Management: The Truth Behind our Record Setting Whitetail Deer
Bang Whitetail Ranch is unique in that you’ll see bucks of all ages when you spend a day in our blinds. We’ve worked for years meticulously culling the herd, so the bucks remaining on the land each year possess the traits we value and are the ones to reproduce. Specifically, the traits we value are clean, typical whitetail deer with heavy mass and long brow tines. If you take a moment to look through our photo gallery you’ll see what we mean – our whitetail deer are of the highest order because of the daily work we put into managing the herd. In fact, one of our hunters still holds the SCI, Texas world record for the largest typical whitetail harvested, with a gross score of 252 4/8”.
In addition to the daily work with our animals, each spring we tirelessly search the property to find as many sheds as possible. Once collected, all sheds are aged and scored, allowing us to track the data from year to year and helping us determine the projected growth of each deer, and of the herd collectively. With this information we can understand how our herd is growing, as well as which deer will be available to harvest in the upcoming season.
To give you an idea of the caliber of our whitetail deer herd:
- 70% of our 4 year-old bucks will score at least 170”
- On average, our 2 year-olds score 147”
- We see the largest growth in our deer from year 2 to 3 at an average growth rate of 16%
Hunting For The Entire Family
Traditional hunting leases aren’t always the most family-friendly environments, something we wanted to change when we opened Bang Whitetail Ranch. We value the time we get to spend with our loved ones, so we wanted to create a hunting experience where you could feel proud bringing along a spouse, children, parents, or clients. Our food, lodging, on-site spa and views of the Texas Hill Country are the perfect alternative to accompanying a hunt, and with our proximity to Fredericksburg and Llano, it’s conveniently located. Your spouse or family can spend the day shopping at the local boutiques in town, or perhaps wine tasting along the Highway 290 corridor. Please let us know in the Hunting Inquiry Form who you plan to bring with you, and we’ll work with you to create a wonderful time for everyone.
Personal Hunting Guides
We offer one-on-one guide service to all of our hunters and are experienced with first-time hunters. Our trained guides know our animals, and are absolutely committed to ensuring you have an enjoyable, safe hunt. Guides also cape and quarter your animal after the harvest, on-site at the ranch compound.
Bow and Rifle Hunting
All weapons are allowed at BWR. Jerry and Jason Bang are avid bow hunters, so we have various types of blinds which accommodate many types of hunts. For those who prefer to rifle hunt, we have large blinds which can easily accommodate 2 to 5 people. We also have one handicap-accessible hunting blind.
